Story
Hello, my name is Matilda. I am 16 years old and I have been growing my hair for the past 3 years. I am getting it cut short, and donating my hair to an amazing cause. Kids with alopecia.
We take having hair for granted. Some children are born with no hair. Imagine never ever growing hair on your head. It would be horrible. This is why I am donating my hair and I am asking everyone if it’s possible to make a donation, big or small, to this fantastic cause.

Donating your hair to be made into a wig for someone who cannot grow hair of their own is a generous gift and rewarding experience. It’s very important to us that not a single gift is wasted, so please be sure to follow these simple steps to ensure your hair meets our requirements.
All hair donated to AAAF is sent wig makers who specialize in making hair pieces for medical purposes. We receive funds from the wig makers and these go to support our Wigs For Kids program, which provides financial grants to help families with the costs of wigs. So your hair donation helps kids with Alopecia Areata twice!

(AAAF), is established to be the national Australia body supporting research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for all forms of Alopecia Areata, support those with the disease and their families, and inform the public about all forms of Alopecia Areata.
Our Service philosophy is to give each person the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively, the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique experience. By reducing the financial and emotional stress and enabling children, young people, adults and their support networks to develop their strengths and skills, AAAF assists the whole family to achieve that positive journey.
