Story
Alopecia Areata is an auto-immune condition that causes hair loss. This hair loss can range from small patches on the head, to total loss all over the body including ear and nose hair.
Although it is not a life threatening condition, Alopecia is life changing.
Alopecia affects over 500,000 Australians, and will affect about 2% of the world's population at some point in their lives.
Yet, we still do not know the cause or have a cure.
Your donations will help AAAF with their research to find a cause and cure, as well as funding:
- support groups and resource development.
- financial grants to help people with alopecia buy wigs.
- awareness campaigns and education.
AAAF is 100% community funded, receiving no government support.
They rely on our donations to do their work and will ensure that 100% of your donations go towards their initiatives to help improve the lives of people living with alopecia.
Heres how your donations will help:
- $5 can go towards providing class room discussions at schools.
- $25 can go towards supporting someone just diagnosed about this disease and linking them into a community network.
- $50 can aid in creating resources to help a child educate a potential bully.
- $400 can provide the funds to help a family purchase a wig for their child with Alopecia Areata.
- $500 can help a researcher to go one step further towards finding a cure or acceptable treatment for Alopecia Areata.
Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc
Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc. (AAAF), is established to be the national Australia body supporting research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for all forms of Alopecia Areata, support those with the disease and their families, and inform the public about all forms of Alopecia Areata.
Our Service philosophy is to give each person the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively, the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique experience. By reducing the financial and emotional stress and enabling children, young people, adults and their support networks to develop their strengths and skills, AAAF assists the whole family to achieve that positive journey.
